“Two out of three women prefer something in sex that almost nobody has a word for. I finally got the word.”

It’s called Layering, and it’s about touch that comes through something (skin, fabric) rather than straight on. When the OMGYES researchers put the question to thousands of women, about two in three said that’s what they prefer. I’d assumed my “less direct, please” was a quirk I should apologize for.

Not a quirk. The majority, finally with a name.

Women: if direct has always felt like too much, you’re not fussy. You’re typical, and there are lots of lovely ways to get it right.

Partners: gentler and less direct doesn’t mean you’re doing less. For most women it’s the version that feels like more.
